The Los Altos History Museum has scheduled an open house with the artists whose work is featured in the exhibition “Gallery 9: Celebrating Art in Los Altos” 6-8 p.m. Thursday.

“This is a chance for visitors to find out about the artists behind the canvas,” said exhibition curator Amy Ellison. “What is their process? Where did they get their inspiration? How did each piece of art come to be? Attendees can browse the exhibition, speak to each artist and enjoy wine and cheese.”

Gallery 9, a fine-art gallery located on Main Street in downtown Los Altos, commemorates its 50th anniversary with the exhibition, on display at the History Museum through March 8. A group of nine women formed the cooperative in 1970, and it is now considered the oldest cooperative art gallery in Los Altos.

The Los Altos History Museum is located at 51 S. San Antonio Road. Hours are noon to 4 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays.

Admission to the open house is free, but reservations are required.

LAH digital gallery features photographer

The Los Altos Hills Public Art Committee’s latest online art exhibition showcases Robyn Aber’s “The First 20 Feet” photographic study.

The 12th public art digital gallery runs through Feb. 29.

Aber’s series of 20 photographs features landscapes, natural elements and unusual finds from a cross-section of Los Altos Hills’ scenic pathways.

For the project, Aber said she challenged herself to portray elements present within – or only viewable from – the first 20 feet of each path she visited last October and November.
