Stanford doctors discuss impact of Roe v. Wade on women's health

The Los Altos-Mountain View branch of the American Association of University Women is scheduled to mark the 47th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion 2-3:30 p.m. Jan. 22 at the Los Altos Youth Center, 1 N. San Antonio Road.

Dr. Taylor Stanton, family planning specialist at Stanford Medical School, will discuss current court cases affecting women’s access to health care and will review new options in family planning.

Dr. Sophia Yen, associate professor of pediatric and adolescent medicine at Stanford Hospital, will give an update on emergency contraception and the newest ways to avoid unplanned pregnancies.

After the presentation, attendees will rally in front of the Los Altos Civic Center. Some signs and placards will be provided. 

Event co-sponsors include the Palo Alto AAUW, the Sunnyvale-Cupertino AAUW, the Los Altos-Mountain View League of Women Voters, the Palo Alto League of Women Voters and Planned Parenthood Mar Monte.

A registration fee of $5 to defray expenses will be charged at the door.
