Therapy Salon owner Sarah Zebb is set to host “Spirit Day” this weekend, her ninth annual fundraiser to help find a cure for cancer.
The event, scheduled 1-5 p.m. Sunday at Therapy, 660 Fremont Ave. in Los Altos, will benefit cancer patients through the nonprofit Unravel Pediatric Cancer.
Formed in memory of 6-year-old Jennifer Lynn Kranz, who died of an incurable brain tumor, Unravel spreads awareness about pediatric cancer and funds research to find a cure. This is the second year Zebb’s fundraiser will directly benefit the organization, introduced to her by friend Jennifer Bridgman.
Zebb said the cause is important to her because kids battling cancer face enormous challenges.
“They can’t go to school because they lost their hair,” she said. “I feel if we can find a cure for these kids, then they can be a normal kid.”
Zebb aims to raise at least $10,000 through activities such as face painting, arts and crafts, a raffle and a bake sale. She added that 20% off all Aveda products sold at the event will be donated.
“My goal is to raise this money to find a cure and to see how I can make a difference,” she said.
The Kranz family is expected to attend this year’s event.
Zebb also helps cancer-stricken women and children find wigs and cuts their hair and shaves their heads as needed.
