Panel discussion centers on food choices
The Los Altos History Museum has scheduled the panel discussion “Eating Your Values” 7 p.m. Thursday in the Orchard Room of the Los Altos main library, 13 S. San Antonio Road.
The event will begin with a reception at 6:30 p.m. at the museum, 51 S. San Antonio Road.
The discussion complements the museum’s current exhibition, “Silicon Valley Eats: A Taste for Innovation.”
Panelists will discuss making food choices that positively affect ongoing social concerns and will raise questions about the quality of fruits and vegetables, the sustainability of farming methods, the place of animals in the web of life and the importance of gathering people together at the table.
Admission is free and open to all.

LACF sponsors Volunteer Fair
Los Altos Community Foundation’s annual Volunteer Fair is scheduled 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 24 on the Downtown Green, located on Third Street between Main and State streets in Los Altos.
The fair will feature craft activities and offer residents of all ages information on volunteer opportunities from 30 local nonprofit organizations.

Downtown Green hosts summer activities
The Downtown Green is back for another summer run of activities along Third Street between Main and State streets in downtown Los Altos.
Sponsored by the city of Los Altos, the Downtown Green replaces the Third Street asphalt with a pop-up park featuring a green lawn, tables, chairs and a stage for performances.
Events include Saturday movie nights and Thursday concerts. The Green closes Aug. 25.
