The city of Los Altos is set to roll out the Downtown Green Friday, when the temporary pop-up park space debuts on Third Street between Main and State streets.
The stretch of road is scheduled to be covered in green synthetic turf and lined with colorful furniture.
The Green, now in its sixth year, is intended to provide a social gathering space, event venue and outdoor dining space through Aug. 25.
The city has scheduled a ribbon-cutting ceremony 8 p.m. Saturday, followed by an outdoor screening of the animated movie “Sing.”
City officials, downtown merchants and community groups have collaborated to present special programming on the Green.
Sponsors include the Los Altos Chamber of Commerce, the Los Altos Village Association, the Town Crier, Los Altos Forward, GreenTown Los Altos, Los Altos Community Investments, Los Altos Community Foundation and Los Altos Property Owners Downtown.
The Green will host events for all ages, including a Volunteer Fair, Energy Day, live music, movie screenings and fitness programs.
