The Lively Foundation has scheduled its seventh annual International Dance Festival@Silicon Valley in May at the Mountain View Masonic Center, 800 Church St.
Highlights of the festival include the Full Day of Dance, slated 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 18, and the Festival Concert, set for 3 p.m. May 19.
The Full Day of Dance will feature five consecutive hourlong classes for mixed levels of experience, from beginners to professionals.
Movement styles include Pilates mat, tap, ballet, ballroom (waltz and cha-cha) and line dancing. The ballroom class provides partners. Participants may take any number of classes.
The price per class drops with each added class. Fees range from $25 per class to $70 for all five.
The Festival Concert will showcase performances and choreography by the artist teachers and winners of the event’s choreography competition.
The competition is open to all whose work has movement as a central element, including traditional and contemporary dance styles, as well as movement work from theater and the circus. Participating artists include Audreyanne Delgado Covarrubias, tap and contemporary; Kristina Mola and Yuriy Kuvshynov, ballroom; Etta Walton, line dancing; and Leslie Friedman, modern dance. Friedman also serves as artistic director of the Lively Foundation.
Tickets are $20 general, $12 for those over 65 or under 10, and $35 for sponsors (reserved best seating and tax-deductible donation). Group tickets are available.
After the Festival Concert, artists and audience members will gather for dinner at Amici’s East Coast Pizzeria, 790 Castro St., Mountain View. Concert and dinner tickets are $40.
