Silicon Valley Open Studios connects artists with enthusiasts

The annual Silicon Valley Open Studios event, in which local artists open their workplaces to the public, is scheduled the first three weekends in May.

More than 385 artists in approximately 160 locations will display their art, including painting, fiber arts, mixed media, jewelry, sculpture and ceramics.

“SVOS gives visitors the opportunity to connect with the artists and see a lot of their work at one time,” said Mel Thomsen, executive director of the event. “The event showcases established and emerging talent, so it is an easy way for art enthusiasts to start an art collection.”

Los Altos and Los Altos Hills artists will open their studios 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 5 and 6 and May 12 and 13. Mountain View artists are set to participate 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 12 and 13.

For a list of locations, artists and contact information, visit svos.org. A digital copy of the directory with listings and maps to the artists’ studios is available at svos.org/online_directory.php. Hard copies of the directory are available at approximately 400 locations throughout the Bay Area, including many libraries, shopping centers and community centers (visit svos.org and click “Find a Directory”).

To find the artists exhibiting in a given city, visit svos.org and click “Find an Artist” and search by city. For samples of an artist’s work, click “Find an Artist” and fill in the box under “Select an Artist by Name.”
