Los Altos History Museum ushers in spring with a focus on florals

The Los Altos History Museum’s latest exhibition, “April in Bloom: Floral Artistry though the Years,” is set to open Saturday and run through April 20 at the museum, 51 S. San Antonio Road.

The opening weekend will feature an Ikebana Flower Show, with Japanese floral arrangements on display in the museum’s Main Gallery and courtyard. Katsuko Thielke and her students will give demonstrations of the ancient art of Ikebana 2-3:30 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to noon Sunday in the Orchard Room of the Los Altos main library, 13 S. San Antonio Road.

Complementing the exhibition is a series of programs and artistic displays from the Garden Club of Los Altos, which is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year. The Main Gallery will feature Garden Club members’ original artwork, talks, children’s activities and floral demonstrations. An opening reception is scheduled 2-4 p.m. April 14.
