The Town Crier has named Los Altos resident Dennis Young, a community volunteer for more than four decades, its Los Altan of the Year for 2018.
Young, 75, has been deeply involved in community volunteerism since the 1980s. He’s been active in everything from the Rotary Club of Los Altos to Community Services Agency and its mission to help those in need. He’s used his accounting expertise to crunch the numbers for countless political candidates and their campaigns. He’s served as master of ceremonies for the annual awards luncheon honoring other community volunteers. And he’s even played Santa at the Festival of Lights Parade.
The paper bestows the annual honor on residents whose extensive and sustained efforts generate goodwill that enhances Los Altos’ reputation as a caring community. Young is the 25th recipient.
A feature story on Young and the honor is scheduled for the Jan. 2 Town Crier.
He also will be celebrated Jan. 23 at a dinner at Chef Chu’s restaurant in Los Altos. Tickets are $60 per person.
To RSVP, call the Town Crier at 948-9000 to pay by credit card, or mail a check to Los Altos Town Crier, LAOTY, 138 Main St., Los Altos 94022.
