Santa and Mrs. Claus are scheduled to arrive downtown for the holiday-themed First Friday festivities, scheduled 6-8 p.m. Friday in downtown Los Altos.
In addition to entertainment at Veterans Community Plaza, live bands will perform in front of businesses on Main and State streets. Stores and galleries will extend their hours and offer gift ideas and promotions. Participating merchants will have First Friday balloons at their store- fronts.
“We have a fabulous First Friday planned for Dec. 7,” said event organizer Jamie Lucia. “There are plenty of bands and carolers on the streets, with our restaurants serving First Friday specials and our art galleries featuring new artist exhibits.”
Among the event’s highlights is The Elf on the Shelf game, in which players can win a small prize from participating merchants for finding the elusive elf.
Khatchig Jingirian, president of Smythe & Cross Fine Jewelry at 350 Main St., said he plans to donate 20 percent of all First Friday sales to the North Valley Community Foundation (nvcf.org) to aid victims of the Camp Fire in the Paradise area. He’ll also be selling Paul’s Firehouse Granola, with proceeds benefiting the San Jose Firefighters Burn Foundation.
First Friday visitors are encouraged to donate to the First Friday Friend Fund.
For a $20 donation, contributors receive a shopping bag and First Friday hat.
To donate, stop by Nature Gallery at 296 State St., Los Altos Community Chiropractic at 371 First St. or Los Altos Community Foundation at 183 Hillview Ave.
