MV recruits artists to beautify utility boxes

The city of Mountain View seeks Bay Area artists to beautify its streets.

Through the Visual Arts Committee’s new Sidewalk Studio pilot program, city officials plan to turn five blank utility boxes into public art that encourages civic pride, increases pedestrian traffic and deters graffiti.

The deadline to apply is today. Five artists or artist teams will be selected from the applicants March 14, and all artists will be notified by March 21. Residents can expect to see the art around the city by early May.

To apply, visit mountainview.gov/sidewalkstudio.
