• 1-3 p.m. Feb. 5 through April 2: Foreign Policy Association “Great Decisions” discussions, America’s largest discussion program on current affairs, are scheduled Mondays. The program model involves reading a “Great Decisions” briefing book, watching a DVD and meeting in a group to weigh in on the most critical global issues facing the U.S. today. Videos on each topic will be presented, followed by discussions. • 7 p.m. Jan. 23: A book discussion for adults will center on M.L. Stedman’s “The Light Between Oceans” (Scribner, 2012). A limited number of copies of the book are available for checkout at the library. 

• New Woodland hours: The Santa Clara County Library District has extended hours at the Woodland Branch Library in Los Altos. Beginning in January, the library, located at 1975 Grant Road, is open on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
