Burrowing owl sugar cookies will be on sale Thursday.

Shoreline Lake is scheduled to host a Burrowing Owl Cookie fundraiser 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the U.S. Army Reserve’s Earth Day Fair at Moffett Field, 230 R.T. Jones Road, Mountain View.

The fundraiser is designed to boost awareness of the plight of burrowing owls, many of which make their home at Shoreline Park.

The 5-inch-by-5-inch sugar cookies cost $4.95 each, and volunteers will take pre-orders for larger quantities. Proceeds will support the Santa Clara Valley Audubon Society’s habitat revitalization, education and other conservation efforts to spare the owls from extinction.

The theme of the Earth Day Fair is “Partners for a Sustainable Community.” The free, family-friendly event will include live music, community vendors, a food truck court, activities, educational booths, a raffle and an e-waste drop-off.
