Los Altos High grad grabs Emmy for work on HBO documentary

Years before she helped produce the Emmy Award-winning HBO documentary “The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling” with Apatow Productions, Amanda Glaze experienced the spotlight on a smaller stage, taking on the title role in Los Altos Youth Theatre’s “Anne of Green Gables.”

While working on “Zen Diaries,” Glaze’s role included researching and obtaining archival footage for the documentary about the late comedian. The process was different from her previous experience on feature films such as “Trainwreck” and “The Big Sick.”

GreenTown Los Altos collects recycled bicycles

Volunteers at the 21st annual ReCYCLE Bike Drive collected used bikes, which have been repaired and donated to students and others in need.

Nearly 100 bicycles were donated to GreenTown Los Altos’ 21st annual ReCYCLE Bike Drive, held last month at Los Altos High School.

Once cleaned and repaired, the bikes will be donated to students in need at Los Altos High, Castro Elementary School and Graham Middle School.

Town Crier Holiday Fund, Los Altos youth group among AFP honorees on 31st Philanthropy Day

Two Los Altos-based humanitarian endeavors received recognition Nov. 16 at the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ 31st annual Philanthropy Day luncheon at the Santa Clara Marriott.

Los Altos Community Foundation’s E3 Youth Philanthropy program and the Los Altos Town Crier Holiday Fund were among this year’s honorees.
