E3 Youth Philanthropy welcomes new members

E3 Youth Philanthropy, a program of Los Altos Community Foundation, is accepting applications through March 30 from students entering 10th or 11th grade in the fall.

E3 aims to educate, engage and empower local youth to create positive change in their communities. Students who live in Los Altos, Los Altos Hills or Mountain View and/or attend school in one of the cities are eligible to apply.

The E3 program requires a two-year commitment. Students meet 7-9 p.m. twice a month in Los Altos, mid-August through April. Through E3, program participants have the opportunity to:

• Make grants totaling $10,000 to local nonprofit organizations.

• Learn from local philanthropists about nonprofits and the positive impacts of strategic giving.

• Design and participate in service projects.

• Develop leadership and communication skills.

Now celebrating its 14th year, E3 has 25 members from local public and private high schools. In 2018, E3 was named Outstanding Philanthropic Youth Organization by the Association of Fundraising Professionals Silicon Valley Chapter.
