The city of Mountain View plans to expand its community center, adding 6,000 square feet to the facility and a new social hall accommodating up to 250 guests.

The city of Mountain View is scheduled to begin renovating the Mountain View Community Center Monday.

In preparation for the project, the community center is set to close Saturday and reopen in early 2019, according to city officials.

Front desk and reservation services will be moved to the Mountain View Senior Center, 266 Escuela Ave., for the duration of the renovation project.

All fall classes and programs will be moved to alternative city facilities; their new locations are noted in the Fall Activity Guide available online at mountainview.gov/register.

The city’s Preschool Tot Time and Playschool programs will be moved to The View Teen Center, 263 Escuela Ave.

Once renovations are complete, the new community center will include more than 6,000 square feet of additional interior space, a new social hall accommodating up to 250 guests, two fitness/dance rooms and four multipurpose rooms. A new preschool room for the city’s preschool programs also will be included.
