Epicurean Group, the Los Altos-based sustainable food-service management company, recently sponsored the second GreenTown Los Altos Farm-to-Table Dinner. The benefit raised nearly $30,000 for GreenTown, a nonprofit organization dedicated to environmental education.
Epicurean Group is an independent company that provides restaurant and catering services to corporations, campuses and fine-arts facilities throughout Northern California.
“We’re proud to have been a sponsor of the benefit and for GreenTown, and to help encourage a sustainable future for Los Altos,” says Mary Clark Bartlett, Epicurean Group CEO and member of the GreenTown Finance Committee.
Epicurean Group also sponsored the “Taste of Santa Clara Valley” Oct. 17, a benefit in San Jose for the Community Alliance for Family Farmers. Seven of Epicurean Group’s culinary-trained chefs prepared original menus based on produce from local family farmers and Mary’s Free-Range Organic Chicken.
“Every day at Epicurean Group we prepare thousands of meals that not only nourish the body and mind with healthy, delicious food, but that also encourage a sustainable future for our communities,” Clark Bartlett said.
ExtraFood.org, a nonprofit food recovery program founded to help end hunger and food waste in Marin County, named Epicurean Group “Donor of the Week” in September.
“Eliminating food waste is one of the most important resource conservation and waste reduction programs that we offer,” Clark Bartlett noted. “Others include the GreenTown Co-op, which we helped launch in 2010 to provide compostable takeout products at competitive prices and eliminate plastic and polystyrene foam from the landfill.
According to Clark Bartlett, through partnerships with Bay Area farmers and ranchers, Epicurean Group supports the community; serves healthful, seasonal food; and reduces carbon dioxide emissions from transportation.
Epicurean Group is located at 111 Main St., Suite 3, Los Altos. For more information, call (415) 895-2800.
