The Mountain View Buddhist Temple Obon Festival and Bazaar is scheduled 4-10 p.m. Saturday and noon to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the temple, 575 N. Shoreline Blvd.
The festival, an annual midsummer Buddhist celebration, attracts hundreds of visitors.
The event will feature a variety of Japanese and Western foods as well as cultural exhibits on flower arranging, decorative rocks and bonsai.
Taiko drummers are scheduled to perform 4:30 and 6 p.m. Saturday and 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. Sunday. The Obon Jazz Quartet is slated to take the stage 2 p.m. Sunday, followed by the Chidori Band at 5 p.m.
Hands-on children’s activities are scheduled 1-4 p.m. Sunday. The Bon Odori dance, with more than 400 dancers dressed in happi coats and kimonos, is set for 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday.
Mike Inouye, NBC Bay Area TV traffic anchor, will serve as master of ceremonies on both days.
