The number of these “phishing” schemes – which lure consumers to fraudulent websites posing as legitimate ones to steal customer data – increased by 1.5 million from 2018 to 2019.

'The yoga of awareness': Alternative practice offered through local studios

Two local women are working to expand kundalini yoga classes to yoga studios throughout Silicon Valley. To start, they’re spreading the word about weekend classes at Yoga of Los Altos and Los Altos Hills Town Hall.

According to teachers Susan Mirbach and Miki Duisterhof, kundalini yoga is for people intimidated by the perceived demands of yoga, and participants don’t need any yoga experience.

Six months after Mountain View resident Melody Hu planned to open the doors of her gluten-free patisserie Sweet Diplomacy in downtown Los Altos, she finally celebrated her shop’s soft opening and is refining and customizing her shop’s aesthetic.

New LA psychiatry practice focuses on sports, sleep

Pennslyvania-born psychiatrist Danielle Kamis recently put down roots and set up a practice in downtown Los Altos. Kamis specializes in sports psychiatry, sleep medicine, women’s wellness, psychotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy.

Dr. Danielle Kamis said she always wanted to start her own practice, and in August the psychiatrist did just that in downtown Los Altos.

Opening a private practice “gives me the freedom and flexibility to be able to practice the way that I see best,” Kamis said. “I don’t have a limit to the number of hours I see a patient.”

LA residents OutreachCircle broadens scope
