Books Inc. hosts authors

Books Inc. in Mountain View has scheduled two authors to discuss their books.

• 4 p.m. Saturday: Children’s author Mac Barnett, winner of the Caldecott Honor for “Extra Yarn,” is slated to present his latest book, “Count the Monkeys” (Disney-Hyperion, 2013), an interactive story that allows children to count all the animals that have frightened the monkeys off the pages.

• 7 p.m. July 31: Richard Kadrey, contributing writer for Wired magazine, the San Francisco Chronicle and Discovery Online, will share the latest installment of his Sandman Slim series, “Kill City Blues” (Harper Voyager, 2013).

Author of apricot book appears at Kepler’s

Los Altos author Robin Chapman is scheduled to discuss her book, “California Apricots: The Lost Orchards of Silicon Valley” (History Press, 2013), 7:30 p.m. July 30 at Kepler’s Books, 1010 El Camino Real, Menlo Park.
