St. Francis golfer plays 100 holes in single day

For Max Oberweis-Manion, playing 100 holes of golf in one day was like a marathon and a sprint.

With the days getting shorter, he and the other members of his foursome last week had only 12 hours to accomplish the 100-Hole Hike, a fundraiser for the nonprofit Youth on Course.

Sophie Thai’s side business hasn’t taken off this summer, but her golf game sure has. The Los Altos High junior placed second at back-to-back American Junior Golf Association tournaments last month.

SFHS grad Bramlett takes 2nd at tourney

Pro golfer and St. Francis High graduate Joseph Bramlett finished in a tie for second place at the Korn Ferry Challenge, held June 11-14 at TPC at Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.

The 32-year-old Bramlett shot an 11-under-par 269 over the four rounds, putting him one shot behind champion Luke List.

The event was part of the PGA’s developmental Korn Ferry Tour.

Pinewood's Chou commits to SMU

Pinewood School’s Megan Chou signs her National Letter of Intent.

Pinewood School senior Megan Chou, who as a sophomore verbally agreed to attend Southern Methodist University on a golf scholarship, officially committed to the Mustangs last month by signing a National Letter of Intent.

“Megan has been coming to our summer golf camps for many years and it has been fun to see her game progress,” SMU coach Jeanne Sutherland said in a press release issued by the school. “She has really improved over the past year and a half, and her motivation to compete at the highest level is strong.”
