The Los Altos City Council is scheduled at its June 22 meeting to consider the hiring of a new city manager, Gabriel Engeland.
Engeland has been city manager for the Southern California community of Sierra Madre (population 11,000) since 2017. Before that, he was the lead administrator for the city of Trinidad, Colo. (population 10,000).
Engeland has a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Kansas. He is a graduate of Central Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in community development.
Prior to his hiring at Trinidad in 2015, Engeland served as assistant to the town manager of Gilbert, Arizona. He also served in Gilbert as interim parks and recreation manager and development services director.
Up for approval next Tuesday is a three-year agreement with an annual base salary of $245,095. Pending council approval, Engeland would begin his new position July 19.
Engeland would succeed Chris Jordan, who announced his resignation in November. Interim City Manager Brad Kilger has served as the city’s chief administrator in the meantime.
The Town Crier will provide more details as more information becomes available.
