The Los Altos Stage Company is set to present “Avenue Q” through June 22.
With a cast of puppets and humans, “Q” has been described as “‘Sesame Street’ for adults.”
It is an irreverent musical comedy about Princeton, a bright-eyed college grad who moves to New York City with big dreams and a tiny bank account. The only apartment he can afford is way out on Avenue Q, where everyone’s looking for the same things: a decent job, a stable relationship and a life purpose. Eventually, Princeton embraces the ups and downs of city life and realizes that the real world isn’t so bad after all.
It features music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx.
Michael Ryken directs. The cast includes Anthony Chan, Cassie Blake, Mylissa Malley, Warren Wernick, David Mister, Mark Sanders, Adam Cotugno, Kathryn Han, Nicole Julien, Tomas Theriot and Jen Wheatonfox.
Due to adult situations, “Avenue Q” may be inappropriate for children under 13.
Performances are slated 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, 3 p.m. Sunday and June 16, 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays and 7 p.m. June 9.
