Myrtle Mozart passed away peacefully on a sunny day at her home in Los Altos on October 15, 2010 at the age of 90. Born in Kentucky, a coal miner’s daughter, one of 11 siblings, she came west at 16 to live with her Aunt Sarah, first in Sacramento, and then in Santa Barbara where she met Gus Mozart, her husband of 50 years.
Before settling in Los Altos in the late 40’s they lived in Half Moon Bay, Burlingame, San Carlos and Menlo Park. Her husband opened a Hudson dealership in Los Altos on First Street in 1949, and later a VW and Porsche dealership in Palo Alto.
Myrtle was the devoted mother of John, Sandra, Mark, and August Mozart, an adored nana of Justin, Augie, Ashley, Forrest, Taylor, and Benjamin.
She was an active member for many years as a volunteer for PCCA. Her endless energy and giving of her time to others was inspiring. She loved making a warm home and cooking for her family. Some of her favorite things are the color pink, marigolds and zinnias, the fall time of year, a good party, chicken and dumplings, Sees rocky road and divinity candy, the book Shell Seeker, and the music of Loretta Lynn and Elvis gospel. Her passions were her garden and sharing recipes. Myrtle was all about what she could do for her family and others unconditionally and she had a great sense of humor and a smile for all.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and Myrtle would ask her friends to buy another friend a flower, Sees candy, or do a good deed in memory of her.
A party celebration of Myrtle’s life will be held at a future date for family and friends.
