Inside Mountain View

46th annual festival slated this weekend

Tim Beeman, CEO of festival presenter Miramar Events, throws out superlatives such as “world-class arts festival” and “a festival like no other” when describing the wide array of live music, arts and crafts, specialty food and drink, and unique attractions slated for this year’s event.

Taking note of the city’s booming growth and its role as a Silicon Valley epicenter, Beeman calls Mountain View’s event “one of America’s premier art festivals.”

Festival highlights include Saturday’s Soul Train Dance Party, the Cornhole Corner and the What’s Up Photo Booth.

Thousands of festivalgoers are expected to fill the streets to view the work of approximately 500 artists and artisans. Both days feature bands at play – the Pacific Soul Band headlines Saturday’s dance party, and the popular “Salsa Sunday” returns with performers Caravanserai and Ruckatan Latin Tribe.

The beer and wine will be flowing, as will specialty drinks such as sangria, mimosas, margaritas and cocktails. Visitors are invited to consume beverages at the festival’s Comcast Pigskin Party Lounge, where NFL and Major League Baseball games will be broadcast on a giant LED screen.

Other festival attractions include specialty foods, home and garden exhibits, health and wellness displays, an organic and green products showcase and a range of children’s activities.

Admission is free.
