Los Altos police arrested resident Jeffrey Rowland on a felony charge of possession of harmful matter after a search warrant uncovered incriminating evidence in his home Feb. 27.
According to Los Altos Police Department officials, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in January supplied multiple CyberTip reports to the department alleging that Rowland, 37, may own child pornography.
A follow-up investigation conducted by the Mountain View Police Department in conjunction with the Los Altos department yielded confirmation that Rowland was a Los Altos resident, leading Los Altos officers to spearhead the remainder of the investigation.
With assistance from the Silicon Valley Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, Los Altos officers executed the warrant at Rowland’s residence on the 1500 block of Awalt Court. The agencies seized his collection of child pornography and arrested Rowland without incident, remanding him to the Santa Clara County Main Jail.
As of the Town Crier’s press deadline, Rowland’s name appeared in neither the Santa Clara County inmate locator database nor the county’s public case information portal.
Anyone with information relevant to the case is urged to call Detective Sgt. Brian Jeffrey of the Los Altos Police Department Investigative Services Division at 947-2770. To leave an anonymous tip, call 947-2774.
