Community Services Agency staff are gearing up to return to an in-person format for the nonprofit group’s annual back-to-school distribution later this month.
This year’s event is scheduled 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 24 in the parking lot of CSA’s Mountain View headquarters at 204 Stier-
lin Road. Participating client families will receive a $50 Target gift card per school-age child to purchase clothing, shoes and grade-specific supplies. A limited number of backpacks will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
In addition to serving ice cream donated by Baskin-Robbins Mountain View, CSA will invite each household to select two handcrafted bowls from its Empty Bowls fundraiser inventory.
Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian will be on hand to greet families in the morning. El Camino Hospital will provide onsite COVID vaccinations throughout the day, and staff from the Santa Clara County Office of Social Services will register people for CalFresh benefits.
The event is administered through the CSA’s Homeless Prevention Services department. Past events have been supported by Google Inc., the Dudley-Vehemeyer-Brown Foundation and community contributions.
Local residents who want to contribute to the program may drop off or mail Target gift cards in $25 or $50 denominations to the agency at 204 Stierlin Road, Mountain View 94043. For information on how to donate online, email email@example.com.
