Gunn High seniors create QuaranTEEN site to connect people during pandemic

After shelter-in-place orders took effect, Gunn High School students Katherine Kudriavtsev and Sarah Emberling, worried about the potential impact on teenage mental health. That prompted the rising seniors to create their website, QuaranTEEN, a social and creative outlet for people to connect amid the coronavirus pandemic.

A Los Altos teen has created an organization dedicated to teaching preschool and elementary students more about STEM through workshops with hands-on activities and discussion.

Gardner Bullis moves BookQuest online

Gardner Bullis School’s BookQuest, a celebration honoring the school’s young writers, had a different look this year. The fourth annual event was held virtually June 8 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

New De Anza president vows commitment to inclusion

Lloyd Holmes is De Anza College’s new president, starting this month.

From his own experiences with racism as a Black student at the University of Mississippi, Lloyd Holmes developed a passion for working on equity and inclusion in education. He now plans to bring that focus to his new position as president of De Anza College.
