The cross-country season didn’t end at last month’s state championship meet for a handful of local boys. Runners from Los Altos and St. Francis highs qualified for the Foot Locker West Regional, held Dec. 1 at Mount San Antonio Community College in Walnut.

St. Francis High senior Eric Eng placed 15th in the championship boys race, which included 221 runners. Running the 5-kilometer course for the first time, the Los Altos resident finished in 16 minutes, 2 seconds. That made him the top finisher from the Central Coast Section.

St. Francis senior Colton Colonna posted the next-best time among the local participants, placing 22nd with a 16:07. He, too, is a Los Altos resident.

Another Lancer, junior Juan Pablo Garcia, came in 40th. The Mountain View resident finished 40th (16:22.8).

Los Altos High junior Adam Sage placed 85th (16:43.1) and St. Francis senior Mason Elefant took 129th (17:11.7). Both boys live in Los Altos.

St. Francis junior Aiden Maddison finished 131st (17:12.4) and Los Altos senior Rian Lawlor placed 143rd (17:16.2).

Los Altos senior Owen MacKenzie also qualified for the championship race but withdrew due to illness.
