Scouting News: Troop 88 Scouts awarded Eagle honors

Bremeau

The Federal Emergency Management Agency recently named Los Altos resident Nico Bremeau to its Youth Preparedness Council.

Bremeau, a sophomore at Mountain View High School, holds an amateur radio license and volunteers with the Los Altos Amateur Emergency Radio Service. He is a Life Scout in Boy Scout Troop 33, working on an Eagle Scout project sponsored by the Los Altos PREPARES program to establish a packet radio amateur radio station in his neighborhood and encourage youth participation with amateur radio.

Scouting News: Troop 37 recognizes Eagle Scouts

Los Altos Boy Scout Troop 37 honored two new Eagle Scouts at a Court of Honor ceremony Sept. 15. Los Altos City Councilwoman Anita Enander presented the Scouts with proclamations.

To receive the Eagle Rank, the highest distinction in Boy Scouts, a Scout must earn at least 21 merit badges, hold leadership positions and complete a community service project.

Pack visits Nature Gallery

Webelos II Scouts from Los Altos Pack 78 recently completed their Earth Rocks! merit badge at Nature Gallery in downtown Los Altos. The Scouts enjoyed learning about rocks, minerals, crystals and the many fossils in the store. Nature Gallery owner Carol Garsten and Dave Mrus, a “rockhound” and artist, led the activity.
