Surveys and subscriptions: the Town Crier's digital edition

surveys

The Town Crier is experimenting with a new feature online feature called "consumer surveys." The goal: to support continuing free and public access to breaking news and news archives.

We've been publishing the newspaper online since 1994 with help from subscribers and advertisers. At losaltosonline.com, residents can stay abreast of civic issues, comment on everything from obituaries to book reviews, and search our archive for historic information.

Consumer surveys, a pilot project Google rolled out in late 2013, offers a new way for readers to support online news without experiencing a paywall. Every time you answer a survey question, the Town Crier receives a small payment. We're testing out whether this feature helps support our website, and we invite feedback – email digital editor Eliza Ridgeway at This email address is being protected from spambots. If you're already supporting the newspaper as a subscriber, register and log in to skip seeing a survey question. Every print subscriber can add digital access for no charge (and thank you for supporting our paper). If you're not already a subscriber, consider joining us. the Town Crier is mailed each week, and an annual subscription costs only $30.

Interested in joining the community of readers, but looking for an online-only option? We've added a "digital-only" option to our subscriptions.
