U.S. News & World Report recently ranked El Camino Hospital as one of the top hospitals for 2014-2015 in the San Jose metropolitan area.
The annual U.S. News Best Hospitals rankings, now in their 25th year, recognize hospitals that excel in treating the most challenging patients.
“We are honored to be recognized among the best hospitals in the nation and as one of the top performers in our area,” said Tomi Ryba, president and CEO of El Camino Hospital. “This is a great accomplishment, especially for a community hospital, and is a true testament to our world-class team of physicians, nurses and staff members who are dedicated to providing excellent patient-centered care and pioneering innovative treatment options.”
In addition to being ranked as one of the top two hospitals in the San Jose area, El Camino Hospital was nationally ranked in Gynecology and recognized as a high performer in Geriatrics and in Neurology and Neurosurgery.
U.S. News evaluated hospitals in 16 adult specialties and ranked the top 50 in most of the specialties. Out of the nearly 5,000 hospitals studied, only 3 percent received national ranking in at least one specialty.
U.S. News publishes Best Hospitals to guide patients who need a high level of care because they face a particularly difficult surgery, a challenging condition or an extra risk because of age or multiple health problems. Objective measures such as patient survival and safety data, adequacy of nurse staffing levels and other data largely determined the rankings in most specialties.
