Senior Center hosts arthritis presentation

The Los Altos Senior Center has scheduled a discussion on “Living with Arthritis” 12:30 p.m. Dec. 1 in Room 12.

The presentation will offer tips for maintaining a healthy lifestyle and provide information on arthritis pain prevention and nonoperative treatments that can create or prolong an active and full life for arthritis sufferers.

Refreshments will be served.

The city of Los Altos, the Arthritis Foundation’s Northern California Chapter and the Community Services Agency co-sponsor the event.

The Los Altos Senior Center is located at 97 Hillview Ave.

Stanford Blood Center offers donors free seminar

Donors who give blood at one of the Stanford Blood Center’s three locations in Palo Alto and Mountain View before Dec. 6 will have an opportunity to attend a “Giving Blood Saves” seminar 6-8 p.m. Dec. 6 at the center’s site at 3373 Hillview Ave. in Palo Alto.

Financial adviser Pat Vitucci is scheduled to discuss planning for retirement and the different risk levels involved in investing. Vitucci has provided financial advice on several radio and television stations over the past 15 years, including on his weekly one-hour show, “Your Financial Life.” Kira King, an estate-planning attorney, will cover trusts, wills and estate-planning techniques to maximize benefits to heirs.

Blood donors should be in good health with no cold or flu symptoms. They must eat well prior to donation, drink fluids and present photo identification at the time of donation. The process takes approximately an hour.
