Bridal apparel for less cost
Brides International, in business the past 25 years, offers wedding wear for brides-to-be who want high fashion design at relatively modest prices. Spokesperson Connie Stout said the six stores statewide, including one in Campbell, each carry more than 1,000 gowns at sizes ranging from 4 to 28. This, she said, allows for a "one-stop wedding center," in which customers can choose a gown and walk out with one the same day.
Brides International released its Kristina Kensington Celebrity Collection in December, a European-influenced designer line that incorporates such details as Austrian crystal, hand-cut Batenberg lace and intricate embroidery. The cost tops out at $890, "hundreds less than similar gowns sold in conventional bridal stores," Stout said.
The Campbell store is located at 2165 Bascom Ave. The store manager is Starr Olson. For more information, call (408) 371-9100.
Facts about weddings
The bridal apparel industry is on a fast track, observers say. The $3.5 billion business services the nearly 2.3 million weddings that take place in the United States every year. Brides International officials estimate that weddings cost an average of $16,000 to put on, with $1,375 spent on the bride's attire. The wedding marketplace remains stable, aided by the fact that 91 percent of all American women have been married at least once by age 45.
