Women’s Initiative for Self Employment selected Michelle Rogers, owner of Home Instead Senior Care in Mountain View, as a 2012 Woman Entrepreneur of the Year for the Silicon Valley Region. The nonprofit group honored eight female business owners who support their communities and help stimulate the local economy.

Home Instead Senior Care provides in-home licensed, insured, bonded and trained caregivers for seniors in 13 communities across the South Bay. Services include three- to 24-hour care, assistance with daily living activities, Alzheimer’s care and nonmedical needs.

“I am honored to be chosen amongst such a tremendous group of talented women,” Rogers said. “Being recognized by the Women’s Initiative inspires me to continue supporting my locality by contributing to local organizations and hiring outstanding people in the area.”

Nicole Levine, Women’s Initiative for Self Employment interim CEO, praised Rogers’ commitment.

“Michelle Rogers hits the mark as someone who has been a Bay Area business leader for more than 30 years,” Levine said. “She exhibits a spirit of community through her Home Instead Senior Care franchise by consistently being active in various civic pursuits and employing people from across Silicon Valley.”

The Women’s Initiative for Self Employment provides low-income women with the business training, funding and ongoing support they need to start their own businesses and become financially self-sufficient.

Since their inception in 2009, the Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Awards have recognized more than 100 women business owners from cities throughout the Bay Area.

“Every year, we honor innovative and inspiring business leaders and entrepreneurs who are seen as role models to our clients,” Levine said.

The organization honored Rogers and fellow award recipients at a reception in Menlo Park last month.
