Aug. 8: 1 p.m. movie, "Michael," shown in room 11. Stars John Travolta, Andie MacDowell and William Hurt.
Aug. 22: 1 p.m., August birthday/bingo party. Come to room 11 for an afternoon of bingo, singalong and birthday cake.
Notes: There is no picnic in August. ... The senior center has a loan closet for sick room items like canes, walkers and wheelchairs. Call Judie at 948-74823 to borrow these items.
... Selected videos are available for viewing. ... A nurse is available for blood pressure screening from 9:15-11 a.m. the first and third Wednesdays of the month for drop-ins.
Mountain View Senior Center
Aug. 10: 2 p.m., a "Musical Sunday" featuring the "The Dancing Grandmas." The performers are all senior citizens. Admission is $1.
Aug. 20: noon, the annual summer picnic featuring hamburgers, baked beans, tossed salad and watermelon, and live music.
Aug. 21: 10 a.m., workshop "Fun and Aging," by Dorothy Daley-McCrum. Dorothy's positive outlook on aging is revealed in "Getting older is a series of new beginnings."
Aug. 24: 2 p.m., slide show from Zee Tieger, who will offer views of New Zealand. Admission is 50 cents.
Aug. 31: 2 p.m., video Sunday, featuring "Dangerous Liaisons" with Glenn Close, John Malkovich and Michelle Pfeiffer.
Note: Mountain View Senior Center chess players are looking for some new players to add to the group. All levels of players will be welcomed. Players meet at the game tables in the game room at 1 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
