The Community School of Music and Arts in Mountain View has scheduled “Imagined Spaces,” an exhibition of paintings by artist Ernest Regua, through March 30 at Mohr Gallery, 230 San Antonio Circle, Mountain View.
“Imagined Spaces” features Regua’s abstracts, which explore and challenge the formal ideas of contrasting shapes and colors, in addition to the optical play in the delineation of shapes that reference architecture, cartography and biomorphic forms. The interplay of imagined space reveals both tension and humorous intersections.
Regua is on the faculty at CSMA, where he teaches drawing and painting classes for teens and adults and several vacation art camps for youth. His work has been exhibited throughout the country, including at the Sacramento Fine Arts Center, the SFMOMA Artists Gallery in San Francisco and the Susan Street Fine Art Gallery in San Diego.
“We are so excited to showcase paintings by our own Ernest Regua,” said Vickie Scott Grove, executive director of CSMA. “CSMA’s arts educators are all accomplished, professional working artists. We relish the opportunity to show off Ernest’s amazing work – and the work of all of our teachers – to the public.”
Mohr Gallery is open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.
