Staff at the new Paul Martin’s American Grill hosted a “soft” opening Friday and the official debut Monday. The upscale eatery, located in the front of The Village at San Antonio Center facing San Antonio Road, serves classic American dishes.

Two new businesses are scheduled to open at The Village at San Antonio Center in Mountain View.

Paul Martin’s American Grill, located across from the Village Green and the newly opened public dog park, opened Monday.

Nekter Juice Bar, a vegan juice retailer, is slated to open in early 2014 at the corner of El Camino Real and San Antonio Road.

Paul Martin’s new 6,285- square-foot site, its sixth restaurant, accommodates 167 guests. The restaurant serves classic American food “with a twist,” in a warm, sophisticated setting, according to company officials.

A private dining area for 10 and a patio lounge that seats up to 50 complement the space.

Popular menu items include free-range “Brick” chicken with mashed potatoes and fresh herb jus, marinated skirt steak with grilled maple-bourbon sweet potatoes and arugula and the restaurant’s signature banana cream pie.

Restaurant officials said the Mountain View location will add 120 full- and part-time jobs to the local economy.

According to Nekter representatives, the juice bar’s success is based on “a simple blueprint for where fresh fruits and vegetables could get a daily workout while keeping prices accessible to all and uniting taste buds everywhere.”

Construction on The Village continues in the design and planning phases in conjunction with the city of Mountain View.

“We’re looking forward to completing the remaining portion of The Village, to fulfill the original vision of transforming an underutilized, auto-centric shopping center into a mixed-use village that brings jobs and tax-revenue while adding new entertainment, restaurants, movies and park space everyone can enjoy,” said Liz Munger of Merlone Geier Partners, developer of the project.

Apartments in the final building of The Village’s three-building residential component are being leased rapidly, Munger said.

The Village at San Antonio Center, located on approximately 20 acres bounded by El Camino Real, San Antonio Road and California Street, is three blocks from Caltrain.
