The Chamber of Commerce Mountain View has scheduled the 41st Mountain View Art & Wine Festival 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 8 and 9 along Castro Street from El Camino Real to Evelyn Avenue.
The Chamber sponsors the annual festival to celebrate the community and its culture. The event features live bands, a wide variety of wines and beers, an eclectic selection of food vendors and more than 600 artisans showcasing fine arts, handmade jewelry and accessories, one-of-a-kind clothing and other handcrafted goods.
The festival is the Chamber’s largest fundraiser, enabling the organization to provide services, programs and scholarships in the community.
The Art & Wine Festival evolved from a small street fair, just a few blocks long, into one of the country’s largest.
The Kids’ Park will add bungee jumping to its offerings of Mobile Rock’s 24-foot climbing wall, body art and face painting, Hula Hooping, fossil digs and dinosaur art.
Rides will include the familiar Froghopper, Kids Kopters, Uproar and Dixieland Twister. A special feature this year will be a NASA Mars Rover Curiosity Exhibit.
Sports fans who don’t want to miss any weekend games can visit the Comcast Pigskin Party Lounge at Mercy and Castro streets, where they can watch NFL and NCAA football and the baseball pennant races on a giant LED screen. Food and drink will be available.
The Golden State Warrior Girls dance troupe will be on site with prizes, samples of the latest Warrior merchandise with their new bridge logo and information about tickets for the 2012-2013 season.
The city of Mountain View has partnered with Recology to conduct a “Zero Waste” event, fulfilling their goal of “Nothing Wasted.”
Bicycle parking will be available in the St. Joseph Church parking lot at Castro and Church streets, supervised by The Friends of Stevens Creek Trail.
From 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. both days, paid parking ($5) will be available in the lots at 400 Castro St. and 440 Castro St., Chase Bank and city parking Lot No. 13. Sunday only, additional parking will be available at Kaiser Permanente, 555 Castro St. Parking fees benefit the Community Health Awareness Council in Mountain View, Los Altos and Los Altos Hills.
