Kathryn Wright and John Toppel have announced their engagement to be married Aug. 18 at the Heritage Resort and Conference Center in Southbury, Conn.The bride-to-be is the daughter of Sandra and James Wright of Easton, Conn. She graduated from Joel Barlow High School in Redding, Conn., and earned a bachelor's degree in psychology at Villanova University. She is employed by the Tigard-Tualatin School District in Oregon and is pursuing a master's degree in special education at Portland State University. The groom-to-be is the son of Margaret and John Toppel of Los Altos. He graduated from Bellarmine College Preparatory in San Jose and earned a bachelor's degree in marketing at Villanova University. He is completing his master's degree in business administration at the University of Portland. He works for Adidas. The couple plan to live in Portland, Ore.
