Los Altos resident for 26 years David Chakerian passed away Sept. 7th in Dallas, Texas. David went to Eastbrook, Covington followed by Awalt High School. After high school he attended Reedley Jr. College where he made the Deans list and obtained his aircraft mechanics certificate. He moved to Alaska in 1981 where he worked for Northern Air Cargo, MarkAir, and Reeve Aleutian Airlines. He loved motorcycles and rode a Harley while in Alaska. Dave traveled extensively while his father was a pilot for TWA. The Town Crier once published a picture of Dave attending the Paris Airshow in 1971. Friends called him by his nickname, “Chick”. Dave was very generous with his time in helping others. Friends said he had a sense of humor where he could make people laugh so hard they would cry. He returned to California in 1993 as a mechanic for VTA. Later he moved to McKinney, Texas and finally resided in Dallas. He was a most proficient mechanic and later in life became a welding technician. He was a history buff and liked to read both fiction and non fiction.

Resident of Los Altos

Joyce G. Christenson passed away peacefully in her home on September 30, 2015. She was 77.

Joyce was born on March 28, 1938, to Clyde and Bertha Gochnour, of Burley, Idaho, and was the youngest of eight children. She graduated from Burley High School and subsequently attended the University of Utah, where she studied Elementary Education and music. Joyce was also a flutist in the Marching Ute Band and university orchestra. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1960. After graduation, Joyce moved to San Diego to teach in elementary school. She married Wayne C. Christenson in 1961 and soon thereafter began raising a family. The family eventually relocated first to the Los Angeles area before moving to Terra Bella, California, in 1972. Joyce served in the Terra Bella United Presbyterian Church as a Deacon and Elder and was active in literacy tutoring.

Donabelle Wedding, a 58 year Atherton resident has passed away at the age of 91. Survivors are her three daughters – Linda Bonini of San Pedro, CA, Rosemary Wedding of Scottsdale, AZ, Cindy Keitel, of Camarillo, CA, Eric Keitel – a son-in-law, a grandson Chris Keitel, and a nephew Albert Newlin, of the Netherlands. Preceeding her in death were her sister Alice Newlin of Frazier Park, CA and her loving husband Damon of 60 years.



OBIT CatharineCarlson

Catharine “Cathy” Valline Carlson, a longtime Los Altos resident and Bay Area native, died on Thursday, October 8th after a long and courageous battle with heart failure. She was 73 ½.

Cathy is survived by Richard, her loving husband of 46 years, as well as two children, Steve Carlson and Amy (Gary) Carlson Speck, and two grandchildren, Margaret and Gabriel Speck.



OBIT PaulWeiss

Paul Weiss, a retired Chevrolet dealer from Palo Alto and LAH, died August 25 while vacationing in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He was 90.

The cause of death was heart failure.

Paul Edward Weiss was born October 6, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois, to Morton and Edna Weiss. A graduate of the University of Chicago Laboratories High School, he enlisted in the U.S Navy at age 18. He spent the war on a Landing Craft Infantry Flotilla Flagship (LC-FF) in the Pacific, earning five distinctions, including a Bronze Service Star, as Radar Man Second Class.



OBIT  WilliamMorrill

Bill Morrill, 77, passed away peacefully on Sept. 26, 2015. Bill proudly served his community with over 30 years in the Palo Alto Fire Department and retired as Battalion Chief. He raised his family in Palo Alto and Los Altos. He returned to Oklahoma after retirement, fulfilling his desire for simpler lifestyle. He was loved and respected by those that knew him and was always there to help his community. He was an avid fisherman who loved the Sierras and getting away to spend time in what he called "PQT" (peace, quiet and tranquility). We like to think he has now gone to that great fishing hole in the sky; catching the big ones.

Stephanie Herrmann and John Sorenson were married Aug. 22 in Napa.

The bride is the daughter of Bruce and Cheryl Herrmann of Los Altos. She graduated from Pinewood School. She is a lawyer.

Marian Elizabeth Sorensen and Jonathan Marcus Levine were married Sept. 12. The ceremony and reception were held at Saddlerock Ranch in Malibu.

The bride is the daughter of Ted and Susan Sorensen of Los Altos.
