Troop 76 Scouts receive Eagle honors: Scouting News

Two Boy Scouts from Los Altos Troop 76 recently earned their Eagle Scout ranks.

• Alexander Fina of Los Altos earned his Eagle Scout designation, the highest achievement in Boy Scouts. The troop honored Fina in a ceremony at Shoup Park May 15.

Los Altos resident joins Child Advocates board: Noteworthy


 

Child Advocates of Silicon Valley recently appointed Debbie Crouse of Los Altos to serve on its board of directors.

Crouse’s appointment comes as Child Advocates celebrates 30 years of transforming foster children’s lives with a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA). CASAs serve as a friend and mentor and represent the best interests of the child in dependency hearings.

Sempervirens appoints new executive director: Noteworthy

The Los Altos-based Sempervirens Fund, California’s oldest land trust, recently appointed Sara Barth its new executive director.

Barth leads the 116-year-old land trust in protecting and caring for the redwood forests of the Santa Cruz Mountains, a mission the organization continues since its initial protection of lands that became Big Basin Redwoods State Park.

Thomas Michael Webster, Sr. passed away gently and peacefully surrounded by loved ones on May 9th, 2016. Born in Evanston, Illinois, Tom received his degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University. He went on to study law at Georgetown University while working at the U.S. Patent office and the Dept. of Naval Research in Washington DC. In 1966, he joined the Chicago patent law firm of Wolf, Hubbard, Voit and Osann as a practicing patent attorney.
