Donald Baumann, a 30 year resident of Carmel, passed away peacefully at home on August 3 after a brief illness, surrounded by his family.

Don was born in Shanghai, China where his father worked for an international shipping line. After Shanghai, Don’s family resided in both the Philippines and Japan where he received his primary education.

Marguerite Louise Szekely passed away quietly in her Los Altos, CA home on July 25, 2016.

Marguerite was born November 4, 1924 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Ray Cooner-Schappaugh and Forrest Schappaugh. She spent her childhood in the San Diego area with her mother and much loved step-father Laurence Holzman. Upon graduating Point Loma High School Marguerite attended Pomona College; she graduated in 1947 with a degree in music, specializing in vocal music. From an early age Marguerite embraced the wider world and she spent almost a decade, beginning in the late forties, living in San Francisco and working as a flight attendant for United Airlines aboard the DC-3 aircraft.

Troop 37 Scouts earn Eagle rank: Scouting News

Kyer Ebbs and Neville Taraporevala

Los Altos Boy Scout Troop 37 members Kyler Ebbs and Neville Taraporevala recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement in Boy Scouts.

The two longtime friends are seniors at Los Altos High School.
