ULF STAUBER

Ulf Stauber passed away at his home on July 13; he had been suffering from Parkinson’s Disease. Ulf was born in Berlinchen, Germany on May 23, 1938. Following the Russian invasion in 1945, he, his mother and two brothers fled to Hamburg where Ulf grew up. He emigrated to the United States in 1963, living first in Indiana and then moving to Mountain View, California in 1965 where he found his first job at Minton’s Lumber Company. He graduated from UC Davis with the intention of becoming a teacher but returned to Mountain View to continue his career at Minton’s doing what he loved best, architectural millwork. He married his wife Marcella in 1967, and moved to Los Altos in 1974, where they raised their two children, Maren & Erik. Following his retirement, Ulf became a docent at Deer Hollow Farm and spent many happy years sharing his love of the outdoors with children.

EDWARD HENRY NELSON

Edward Henry Nelson passed away peacefully into the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 18, 2016. He was 92 years old. Ed lost his long and valiant battle with Parkinson’s Disease. 

Born in Pennsylvania, Ed moved to the family home in Oakland California at the age of 18. After a brief start in the banking industry, Ed was a business partner with Flegel’s Home Furnishing in Menlo Park for over 32 years. 

CHARLES ERIC NARAD

Charles Eric Narad, 56, of Los Altos lost his six year battle with a rare cancer on July 9. He died peacefully in his home in Woodland Acres, surrounded by family. Chuck is survived by his wife Joanne, brothers Jim of Prescott AZ and Rick of Chico CA, and sons Ethan and Reuben, both currently in high school.

Longtime resident of Los Altos, CA and Maui, Thomas James Douma, passed away at his Maui home on July 13, 2016 after a short but intense battle with cancer. A California native, Tom was born in Visalia, CA in 1943. He was an “army brat” and grew up all over the world. After receiving an MBA from Stanford, Tom became a real estate developer, and in 1989, he founded the Real Estate Inspection Group, one of the largest home inspection companies in the Bay Area. Tom will be remembered for his brilliant and creative mind, his sense of humor, his storytelling, his love of music and his joy of surfing and sailing. 

DONNA MYERS

Donna Lee Arrants Myers was born in Selma, California on Feb. 20, 1926. She passed away on June 23, 2016, at the age of 90, after suffering a stroke. Donna was the youngest of four children. She had two sisters, Jessie and Bonnie, and one brother, Clyde, whom she adored. At the age of eleven, the family moved to Ventura where she attended Ventura High School and met her future husband, Jack. Donna enjoyed sports, playing tennis in high school as well as baton twirling and drum majoring for the marching band. Donna started dating the love of her life, Jack Myers, in 1946 after he returned from WWII. They were married in 1947 and recently celebrated their 69th anniversary.

THOMAS FRANCIS HORAN JR.

Thomas Francis Horan Jr., 55, earned his eternal wings July 2nd at 10:02am in his home surrounded by loved ones. He shared 29 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Melanie Therese Horan.

Born in Evergreen Park, Illinois, Tom Horan was the son of Thomas and Mary Ellen Horan. Formerly of Mountain View, Tom graduated from Saint Francis High School in 1979. He then went on to graduate from San Jose State University with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering in 1984. Tom was a retired Commander in the U.S Navy where he faithfully served the country for 22 years, and was an admired Captain with Southwest Airlines for 19 years.

He was born in San Francisco to Sidney Thomas Covell and Pearl Edith Brunner. 

SUE “SUNNY” NEELY KRUTZ

Sue “Sunny” Neely Krutz, 93, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2016, at her home in Los Altos, CA.

Sue was born in Dallas, Texas to Armetta Black and Walter White on June 2, 1923.  Sue lived a very full life. She loved traveling the world and was active in many charities while she resided in Dallas. She moved to California in 2006 to be closer to her cherished family, and spent the last decade enjoying time with her great-grandchildren.
