Bill Bruce May, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at age 80 on June 6th, 2016, with his family at his side. He was born in Sturgis, South Dakota to parents John and Weltha May, and grew up on a ranch outside Sturgis, near Mount Rushmore. As a farm kid, he attended a one-room rural schoolhouse with one teacher and about 12 kids representing all grades below high school. At Sturgis High School, Bill met his wife to be Marka, and they began a journey together spanning over 60 years. Bill was a very driven man, with honesty and integrity his cornerstone values.

Mary Ellen Webster, 94, of Mountain View, a most dear and delightful mother and friend passed away in her sleep June 10. Born in Watonga, OK on Easter Sunday 1922 by the light of an oil lamp which also lit her path as she made her transition.

Valerie Alice Bodo, passed away peacefully in the loving care of her children at her home in Los Altos on May 30, 2016. Valerie will be remembered and held dear in our hearts for us to share her faith, love, and kindness. Funeral services were held at St. Simons Church on June 11, 2016.

Robert Frederick Ballus, Jr. passed away on Monday, June 6, 2016. Born in 1924 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Marie Eattock and Robert Frederick Ballus, the family moved to Shaker Heights, Ohio, where Bob and his sister, Kathryn, grew up. He was an Eagle Scout and represented Shaker Heights High School at Boys State. He had a lifelong and passionate interest in politics.

Chelsea D’Ambrosio and Bobby McLean announced their engagement to be married July 9. The ceremony and reception will take place at the Los Altos History Museum.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Vanessa D’Ambrosio of San Lorenzo and Michael D’Ambrosio of Boca Raton, Fla. She is employed as executive administrator at Gilbert Spray Coat Inc.

ALICE M. WILLIAMS

Alice M. Williams, born on July 15, 1922 in Landa, North Dakota, daughter of John and Lillie Grann of Landa, North Dakota, passed away on June 3, 2016 at the age of 93. 

Growing up, Alice helped on her parent’s farm and assisted with cooking for her family of 9. She also worked in the local hotel where a traveling dance band became stranded during a particularly bad blizzard. A local HAM radio operator let the band broadcast over his set—this was Lawrence Welk’s first radio broadcast! Alice would work in the “cook wagons” during harvest season preparing 3 hearty meals a day for the thrashing and harvester crews. These experiences along with the family preparation of traditional Norwegian foods enabled Alice to perfect her baking talents. These talents were enjoyed by generations of family and friends.

William J. "Bill" Almon passed away peacefully on Monday, June 13, 2016, with his family at his side, after a valiant struggle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome. Born in St. Louis, Missouri on November 22, 1932, he is the youngest son of the late Louise and Daniel Almon. Bill attended Christian Brothers College High School in St. Louis, Missouri, and is a 1954 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. 

MARILYN “TERRY” RAE CLAWSON

Marilyn “Terry” Rae Clawson passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, May 25th, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Terry was born on June 13, 1933 in Mesa, Arizona to the late Dr. Melvin Lloyd and Editha Rae (Smith) Kent. She met Charles Curtis Clawson while attending Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. They were married for 62 wonderful, fulfilling, warm, honorable, fun and loving years.
