Richard Martin Carlson passed peacefully in his sleep at age 93, on March 19, 2015. He is now reunited with Mary “Dolores” Carlson, with whom he was graced with 63 years of marriage. After helping to save humanity flying 31 missions as a B-17 pilot including the DDAY invasion during WWII, he enjoyed a long career as a commercial airline pilot, retiring as a 747 captain with TWA. The family legacy has been passed to their seven sons and 6 daughters in law: Tierry, Gery and Pat, Donn and Kathryn, Tomm and Tammy, Rock and Julie, Ron and Sue, Jon and Elizabeth, 20 grandchildren, and 19 and counting great grandchildren.

Doris Fuchs (née Lopez) passed away quietly in her sleep at her assisted-living residence on Wednesday, April 1st, 2015. She was born in Los Gatos on Sept. 19th, 1920. She lived in the Bay Area for her 94 years and was a 6th generation Californian; her family has lived here since 1783. Doris met her husband of 70 years, Joe Fuchs, at Mayfield, near Palo Alto. This kind and generous lady will be missed by her family (Joseph and Jane; Jenn, Jay and Jack) and a wide circle of friends.

to the late Katherine and Ralph DeWitt. Marie and her late husband, Victor J. Magina, moved to Mountain View in 1964. She is survived by her daughters, Maria Magina, Lisa Pazmany, her husband, Peter, grandchildren Peter, his wife Nicole, Joseph, Stephen and Victoria Pazmany and great granddaughter, Scarlett Grace Pazmany.

Lloyd Austin was an iris hybridizer and ran the Rainbow Hybridizing Gardens business with Norm’s mother, Gladys Easter Ingraham Austin.

On Tuesday March 24, 2015, long time Los Altos resident, Lois Holman Critchfield, devoted mother of four children and eight grandchildren, passed away peacefully as she was reading her bible. She was 80 years of age. Surviving are her children and their families; Victoria and Gordon Bizieff of Orinda, CA; Karen Herz of Los Altos, CA; Doug and Dianne Critchfield of Puyallup, WA; and Jay and Jane Critchfield of Mt. View, CA. One of the highlights of Lois’s life was her grandchildren. Surviving are Anthony Herz, Jayke Critchfield, Alec Bizieff, Marie Critchfield, Ben Critchfield and Kadi Critchfield. Also surviving is her former spouse, Fred Critchfield. She is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Geneva Holman, two brothers Grant Holman and Dean Holman, and two grandchildren David and Joshua Herz.

John Lynn Grigsby, a 50-year Los Altos resident, died peacefully at home March 12, 2015, with family. He was 90.

John was born April 28, 1924, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to James Arnett Grigsby and Lynette Kimmons Grigsby, the youngest of three sons. He grew up in Greeley, Colorado. After graduating from Greeley High School, he served three years in the Army Air Corps as a radar mechanic, stationed in the Philippine Islands and the Pacific. Having completed his military service, he earned his BS degree cum laude in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado (1949) and he began his engineering career with General Electric.

He is also survived by his sister, Diana Butler (Jim), niece Debby (John), and nephew Peter (Lori) and their children. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Kathryn. Born in Michigan on May 28, 1941, Bob graduated from Kalamazoo College, where he earned a degree in Physics, and then earned a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan.

Lucille (Lu) Kelly of Los Altos Square, Los Altos, passed away peacefully from natural causes in her home on March 8, 2015. She was born in Southbridge, Massachusetts in 1924.  She and her (deceased) husband, William (Bill) Kelly, moved to Los Altos in 2000.

Lucille is survived by her sons, Wayne Kelly of Mountain View, Stephen Kelly of Sunnyvale; daughter Marianne Doyle of Warren, Maine; and son William Kelly of Palo Alto. She had 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Yvonne Haddad Twidwell of Los Altos, California passed away March 28, 2015 peacefully in her home.

Yvonne was born on June 30, 1929 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Charles and Mary Haddad. She was the oldest of five children. She had a lengthy career in both fashion and interior design in New York, San Francisco and Los Altos. She owned the YT Limited boutique in Cupertino and subsequently moved it to Los Altos. After closing YT Limited, Yvonne worked for many years as the in-home designer for Calico Corners and had a large following of loyal clients.

Harold Wood Huntley, Jr., a long-time resident of Los Altos known to many of his close friends as Hal, passed away peacefully in Cupertino, California on March 29, 2015 at the age of 95. Hal was born in New York City on May 27, 1919, was a 1941 graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a 1968 graduate of Harvard Business School, and was a notable pioneer in aeronautical engineering and space exploration serving as chief engineer for Northrup in the 1950s and later as engineer and program manager for Lockheed Missiles & Space Company throughout the 1960s and 1970s.

Robina Wedding, 82, died at home March 20, 2015 from complications of Parkinson disease.

Robina, known by her friends as Robie, was born August 15, 1932, and grew up in San Francisco California. She met Stanley Wedding while on a trip to Yosemite. It was not long before the two were married, in 1953. They lived in San Francisco where Robie worked at Wells Fargo Bank putting Stan through Dental School. After graduating from Dental School they were sent to Kaneohe Hawaii, as Stan was a Naval officer attached to the Marine Corp. They lived there for 2 years before moving their young family to Los Altos in 1962.

Sue Singer, the matriarch of Chateau Drive, passed away at her home on March 21, five weeks after celebrating her 90th birthday. She had lived in Los Altos for nearly 50 years.

Sue will be remembered for her friendliness, kindness, compassion, and saucy sense of humor. She loved living in Los Altos, walking her dog and chatting with the neighbors, gardening, going to local theater and music performances, ballet and opera, seeing the American flag waving in the breeze, and visits from her devoted friends and neighbors, who will now deeply miss her.

Marguerite Lowe King, often called Peggy, a longtime resident of Los Altos, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 25, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was 94 years old, just 6 days shy of turning 95 on March 3.

She was born on March 3, 1920 in Detroit, Michigan. She lived in Florida during the Depression, where she swam in the ocean and developed a life- long love of the seashore.

He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Sarah, Sophia, Sonia and Zachary. He is preceded in death by his daughter Janice Batistich. John & Claire resided in Los Altos Hills for nearly 53 years.

Paul L. Bjork of Los Altos California, suffered sudden cardiac arrest on Sunday morning March 8, 2015 while exercising. He will be greatly missed by the children he loved dearly: Stephanie, 12; Kevin, 11; and Rami, 8.

He also leaves behind loving parents Carla and Larry Bjork of Los Altos; sister and brother-in-law Kristie and Blair Ewen of Redding, California; and former spouse Rana Khaled of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Paul will also be missed by a large extended family including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and many beloved friends and colleagues.

LaVon Morton died at home in Palo Alto, California on March 12, at the age of eighty-four, surrounded by her family. She was born in Russell, Kansas to Ralph and Hazel Palmer.

After graduating from Kansas State University with a degree in education, she worked at a children’s radio station and as a teacher before marrying Dean Morton in 1953 and starting her own family. With their growing band of children, she and Dean moved frequently while he served in the Air Force, attended Harvard Business School and pursued a career in the electronics industry.

Beverley McChesney passed away at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, CA on Sunday, Nov. 16. She had been fighting cancer for about 23 years until it went into her lungs.

She is survived by her husband David, of Cloverdale; her sisters Sharon Fisher, of Sonoma and Sue Fish of St. Helena, CA; her son Donald and family of Belmont, CA; and a large extended family and circle of friends. She will be missed by all.

She was preceded by her loving husband, Robert James Watson and her parents, Alice Grace Reilly and James Treanor Jackson. Surviving are her four daughters and their families; Diana and John Farrall of Greenville, SC, Lynda and David Eichler of Woodside, CA, Robin and Mark Hendrickson of Los Altos, CA and Sandra and John McFarland of Granite Bay, CA. Hope was blessed with eight grandchildren (in birth order); Christina Eichler Bullock (husband Benjamin), Tommy Hendrickson, Jenny Farrall, Timmy Hendrickson, Paul Eichler, Julie Farrall, Kevin McFarland and Emily McFarland.

Born in Alsace-Lorraine in 1939 to Marie-Therese and Marcel. Bernard toured the world with his parents whom were engaged in the French military. He eventually set his life in California and married Rosemarie. Joined with her for 48 years Bernard created a legacy. Raising three children: Tony, Chris and Stephen. He created and ran his own business for 30 plus years, tended his garden, was a man of faith and passionate about his cooking.
