Richard Patrick Brennan, journalist, editor, author, adventurer, died at his Palo Alto home on July 4, 2014 at age 92. He led a full life, professionally and personally. He was born and raised in San Francisco, joined the Army during World War II after which he majored in English at San Francisco State on the GI Bill and then became a journalist for the Ukiah newspaper.

Ramona Sue Chown passed away peacefully at home in Los Altos Hills with family by her side on May 28th, 2014 at the age of 85. She was born in Tennessee in 1929. She then moved to Los Angeles in her early teens with her family where she met and later married her husband, John Chown, in 1949. They moved to Palo Alto in 1954 and then to Los Altos Hills in 1965. Ramona was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years. She is survived by her two children & their spouses, Nancy (Jerry) and Tim (Valerie) and her four grandchildren, Melissa, Andy, Eric and Chris.

In May of 2014, Gordon E. Brandt passed away after a one and one half year battle with Lymphoma. He died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family.

Gordon was born in Los Angeles, CA on July 13, 1930. He graduated from Fremont High School in 1948 where he worked on the school newspaper and joined the California National Guard.  He proudly served as a radio operator in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, rising to the rank of Master Sergeant.

Albert Jerome Morris passed away peacefully May 13, 2014, at his home in Los Altos Hills at the age of 95. He was born in the Bronx, New York and attended UCLA, U.C. Berkeley, and Stanford. He moved to Los Altos Hills in 1958 to raise his family with his beloved wife of 63 years, Barbara, who preceded him in death.

Al is survived by his brother Herbert Morris; three children, Peter, Lee, and Lisa; five grandchildren, Gabrielle, Amanda, Ryan, Brett, and Alex; and four great grandchildren, Oceanah, Tevin, Chase and Tripp.

John Robert Stevenson died peacefully on June 29, 2014, surrounded by his daughters. He will be remembered for his playfulness and humor; for his affable nature; for his integrity; and for his steadfast devotion to family.

John embraced life with gratitude, ever mindful of it’s many gifts. Adopted by Charles and Mary Catherine Stevenson shortly after his birth on June 30, 1920, he often referred to himself as "the luckiest little boy in the world." He grew up in Santa Barbara with the dream of flying, mowing runways at the Santa Barbara Airport in exchange for flying lessons.

She attended the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, and married her high school sweetheart, Charles J. Cook, in 1945.

Bert Stephens, a respected and retired electrical engineer and inventor in Silicon Valley, died on June 14. He was 75.

Bert was born and raised in the Punta Gorda area of Florida. He came west in the Navy and met his future wife Jackie in San Francisco. Bert graduated from SFSU with a BS in Engineering. The couple moved to Los Altos where they have resided since; last year they celebrated their 50th anniversary.

On April 30, 2014, Beverly Gorley was 73 when lung cancer took her from this life. Her husband Tom was at her side during home hospice care when she peacefully took her last breath.

She was born in New Jersey in 1941 and spent her childhood in upper NY state. Beverly was a graduate of Kathryn Gibbs secretarial school In New York City and also studied art for a short while at Rhode Island school of Design.

Sharon was born on March 13, 1945 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and lived most of her youth in the San Francisco Bay Area. She met George Buzzini in Pine Mountain Lake, CA, where they married in 1973.

He graduated from Mountain View High School (51, Honors) and studied at San Jose State.

89, Peacefully passed away June 9th, 2014, in the presence of her devoted son and daughter.

Polly (Hertz) was born, with her twin sister Dolly, April 17th, 1925 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. 

Her life spanned two continents from Holland to America, surviving the Holocaust without Dolly (perished in Auschwitz) immigrating  to San Francisco in 1948. For almost a decade she worked at the Netherlands Information Service spreading Dutch cultural history and lore, joining the "Worldlings Club" where she met the love of her life, Eric.
