Wes passed away peacefully at his home on July 27,2014, just two months before his 90th birthday.
Born in Los Angeles, his family moved to Fresno when Wes was 14 years old. He joined the Navy in 1943, serving on a destroyer in the Pacific theater.
He and the former Mickie O'Neal met after his return to Fresno, and were married on March 12, 1948. The young couple moved to the Bay Area where Wes earned his PhD in physics at Stanford University. In 1955 Wes and Mickie moved to Los Altos, where they raised their two sons, Tim and Dan.
The following year, Wes co-founded an electronics company, Melabs, with three friends and served as vice president. Melabs started in an old wine cellar behind one of the founder's homes in Los Altos, eventually moving to Stanford Industrial Park, where it grew to over 400 employees. Melabs was acquired by SCM Corp. in 1969. Later, Wes worked as a free lance management consultant, and was a managing partner of Altos Center, an office and retail building in downtown Los Altos.
After retiring, he and Mickie thoroughly enjoyed traveling the world. Always an avid golfer, Wes was an original member of the Palo Alto Hills Golf and Country Club, and served a term as President.
Wes passed away after a brief illness. he was predeceased by Mickie, his wife of 59 years and their son, Dan. He is survived by son, Tim, of Milpitas, and other relatives.
