Mar 13, 1945 – Jun 03, 2014
Sharon ‘Sunny’ Virginia Buzzini of Ripon, CA lost her long hard fought battle with cancer on June 3rd, 2014, and passed peacefully with her husband of 40 years, George, by her side.
Sharon was born on March 13, 1945 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and lived most of her youth in the San Francisco Bay Area. She met George Buzzini in Pine Mountain Lake, CA, where they married in 1973.
They moved to Modesto in 1978 and 20 years later moved to Ripon to be closer to Jack Tone Golf, the golf course they built and ran together, and George continues to own and run today. Sharon’s entrepreneurial spirit also compelled her to open a furniture consignment store, Fabulous Finds, in Ripon after seeing a need. The store was very successful and loved by many in the community, but closed only after 4 years due to Sharon needing to focus her time and resources on the golf course.
The decision to marry George, a golf professional, submersed her and her family into a life of golf with all its joys, rewards and accomplishments. Through George’s instruction, she became an accomplished amateur golfer evidenced with several club champion titles at Del Rio Country Club, where they were members for over 25 years, in addition to two Stockton City Golf Championship titles.
Sharon, known as “Bubbie” to her grandchildren, absolutely adored her grandkids and showed it by spoiling them in typical grandparent fashion…Disneyland and Christmas being her favorite mediums. Other than her family, she found joy in vacations in Maui with George and, more recently, “escaping” in front of a penny slot machine as a regular at Jackson Rancheria.
Sharon was the most giving and caring person you will ever know. As a mother, she made her kids feel loved, secure and supported. She was strong and protective, but, family or otherwise, if you did or said something she didn’t agree with, she had no reservations in letting you know it. You got what you saw with Sharon, and we saw an honest, loving, loyal, generous, driven and talented person that will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
Sharon is predeceased by her father Robert Leon ‘Big Daddy’ Roberts, and brother Robert Lee Roberts (Carol) of Milpitas, CA. She is survived by her husband George; mother, Virginia ‘Nana’ Roberts of Los Altos, CA; sons Brian Norris-Buzzini (Jonelle) of Riverbank; Tim Norris-Buzzini of Modesto; sister Donna Colby (Mike) of Turlock; uncle Tom (Peggy) Colwell of Duluth, GA; grandchildren: Grace, Sophie, Katie, Jack; in addition to her much loved nephews.
An open house celebration of life is scheduled for Sunday, June 29th from 11 am to 2 pm at Jack Tone Golf in Ripon, CA.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made in her name to your local community hospice or the Memorial Hospital Foundation.
