Wanda Wilcox, 89, of Los Altos passed away peacefully Sunday March 16th, 2014 surrounded by her family. She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth, two sons Peter and Ted, their spouses Liz and Patricia, and daughter in law, Lynn.
Wanda is also survived by her nine grandchildren, Alia, Tanya, Nick, Ryan, Paige, Max, Samantha, Ian and Kendra. She is predeceased by her husband, Doug, and two older sons, Dwight and Eric.
Wanda grew up on an Indiana farm with 4 sisters and a brother, where she learned how to drive a tractor and design clothing. Wanda attended Purdue University where she met her husband, Doug, and earned a BA in textiles and clothing design. After graduation, Wanda worked as a fashion commentator in New York before the young couple and 3 children moved to Los Altos in 1958. 2 more sons arrived shortly thereafter.
Wanda lived a full and rich life devoted to family, friends and her community. In addition to being a loving wife, caring mother of 5 and attentive grandmother of 9, she enjoyed donating her time and energy to the Palo Alto Auxiliary, P.E.O., her church and the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She loved her friends, bridge and book groups and keeping up with current affairs.
Friends of Wanda are invited to attend a celebration of her life on Friday April 4th at 2pm at the Foothills Congregational Church in Los Altos. If you wish to donate in her name, Wanda would have appreciated your funds going to this same church where she found wonderful community.
