Rosalia Elizabeth Wilkie (Rose) of Mountain View passed away in her sleep on April 20. Rose was born in San Francisco April 3, 1917. She was 95. Her father, Peter Jost, came to San Francisco from Switzerland in 1896 and was a saloon keeper in The City. He moved his family to Menlo Park in 1920, where Rose lived until moving to Mountain View in 1956. She is survived by her son, David, four grandchildren (Wyatt, David, Jamie and Wendy) and two great-grandchildren (Jasper and Linnea). She is pre-deceased by two of her children, John Donald (1941) and Donald James (2006). Her husband, John, passed away in 1989. Rose had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to travel, making two trips to Switzerland to visit her father’s family. She loved her Swiss heritage. Rose also loved her garden, where she spent many hours, and she worked as a sales person at Macy’s in Palo Alto in the men’s department until she retired. She was also very active at the Senior Center in Mountain View for many years. Donations can be made to Pathways Hospice at El Camino Hospital, Mountain View.
