Troop 76 celebrates 50th anniversary – members past and present invited

Boy Scout Troop 76 of Los Altos is scheduled to commemorate its 50th anniversary 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Foothills Congregational Church, 461 Orange Ave., Los Altos.

The troop invites former Troop 76 scouts, leaders and parents to share in the celebration.


'Champions for Youth' announced

Challenge Team will honor Mountain View Police Chief Scott Vermeer as “Champion for Youth” at the nonprofit organization’s annual fundraising breakfast, scheduled 7 a.m. May 7 at Michaels at Shoreline, 2960 N. Shoreline Blvd., Mountain View.

Lauren Burns of Mountain View High School will receive recognition as “Youth Champion.”

Anthony Ebbs and Jonas Schill are Troop 37 Eagle Scouts.

Troop 37 members earn Eagles

Anthony Ebbs and Jonas Schill, members of Boy Scout Troop 37 of Los Altos, achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, the organization’s highest title.

They received their awards at an Eagle Court of Honor attended by family and friends April 19.


Dodsworth receives CADRE award for emergency preparedness

Los Altos resident Sherie Dodsworth received the “Excellence in Preparedness” award April 9 at the ninth annual Santa Clara County Disaster Preparedness Conference at NASA Ames Conference Center in Mountain View.

The event’s sponsor, the Collaborative Agencies Disaster Relief Effort (CADRE), aims to unite community-based, nonprofit organizations in disaster preparedness efforts as well as response and recovery activities in Santa Clara County.



RotaCare honors local volunteer

RotaCare Bay Area honored Jim Cochran of the RotaCare Mountain View Free Medical Clinic with the Outstanding Clinic Volunteer Award April 10 for his commitment to RotaCare’s mission of providing free medical care to those with the greatest need and least access.

Cochran was among the dozen volunteers recognized by the 12 RotaCare clinics in the Bay Area, which are run with a work force of volunteer physicians, nurses, health-care administrators and local residents.
