Troop 37 Boy Scout earns Eagle rank
Los Altos Boy Scout Troop 37 recognized Corey Moran for earning his Eagle rank at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor in the spring at Lucie Stern Community Center in Palo Alto.
Moran is the third generation in his family to become an Eagle Scout, joining his father, Peter, and late grandfather, Ken.
Moran has been active in scouting for 12 years, first in Cub Scout Pack 77 at Almond School before joining Troop 37 in 2006.
He has earned 21 merit badges, camped 84 nights, hiked 49 miles and led a wilderness canoe trip of more than 100 miles in Canada’s Quetico Provincial Park and the Boundary Waters Wilderness of Minnesota.
For his Eagle project, Moran designed and built the complete stage set for Broken Box Theatre Company’s production of “A Christmas Carol” at Los Altos High School. He and fellow volunteers contributed more than 250 service hours to the project.
Moran, the son of Peter and Anne Moran of Los Altos, graduated from Los Altos High School in June, where he was active in the Broken Box Theatre Company, swimming and water polo. He is studying industrial engineering at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
