Loyola Beauty Salon continues to operate
Regarding the Town Crier’s article on the proposed mixed-use development for Loyola Corners, I would like to emphasize one important fact (“Commission says try again,” Jan. 29).
While the article discussed the proposal in detail, it failed to mention that our shop, Loyola Beauty Salon, located at 999 Fremont Ave. in Los Altos, is still open and in business for the foreseeable future while the property owner seeks approval from the city for his proposal. As a result of this article and the accompanying photo of Loyola Beauty Salon, people are now questioning our stability, and our business has suffered financially. We have received numerous phone calls from our concerned clients and friends asking whether our shop has shut down.
The experience is difficult and frustrating. Our shop is still open.
At this time, it is just a feeler, and there is no certainty that there will be any changes. In fact, there has been a constant flow of proposals for years concerning the Loyola Corners area – from reconfiguring the bridge to changing the directional flow of traffic. None of these proposals has led to any changes.
As a locally owned business, we are doing well here and have a solid and growing customer base of appreciative clients who have come to depend on our services.

Packard awards night recalls Academy Awards
We don’t know how the Town Crier would ever be able to follow that shindig Jan. 30 at the David and Lucile Packard Foundation (“Packard Foundation, Town Crier celebrate the ‘gold standard’ at Los Altan of the Year event,” Feb. 5).
With all those dignitaries in the room, we felt that we were attending the Academy Awards. With the additions of Paul Shoup and the Packard Foundation to the winners’ group, you are looking more and more like Time Magazine.
Also, congratulations on your excellent year. You have done a great service to the community.
